The results of the 2023 National Baseball Hall of Fame vote have been released Tuesday.

Third baseman Scott Rolen was the only nominee on the Baseball Writers' Association of America HOF ballot to receive 75%.

His eighth appearance on the BBWAA ballot came this year. Kent won 32.7% of the vote last year, and this year that has increased to 46.5%, still well short of the 75%needed to win an election.

Many believe that Kent should be recognized because he scored more runs as a second baseman than anyone else in history.

On the other hand, Kent was not a particularly good second baseman and spent the 12 years of his career alternating between first base and designated hitter.

Kent posted 123 career OPS+ and 377 career home runs while playing first base or DH. With these statistics in mind, he finds himself in a different position in the voting process.

Ultimately, he was behind candidates such as Derek Lee, Joe Adcock, and Ryan Howard, who received only 2% of the vote in his one appearance on the ballot.
