The one player to reach the 75 percent of the vote needed for Cooperstown induction was Scott Rolen.

On his 6th attempt, the third baseman nearly missed the cut, receiving votes on 76.3 percent of ballots cast.

During 17 MLB seasons, Rolen hit 316 home runs for the Toronto Blue Jays, Philadelphia Phillies, St. Louis Cardinals and Cincinnati Reds.

The seven-time All-Star was renowned for his defense, as he worked the hot corner and picked up eight Gold Gloves.

Baseball Reference polls Rolen as having a 70.1 WAR, which ranks him tenth among all third basemen. Except for Adrián Beltré, who will be elected in 2024, none of his predecessors are in the Hall of Fame.

Rolen won the NL Rookie of the Year award in 1997 after hitting a .283/.377/.469 line for the Phillies.

While playing with the Cardinals, he had a career-high 34 home runs and an OPS of 1.007, which helped him finish fourth in the 2004 NL MVP Poll.

Rolen joined St. Louis two years later, and the team won the World Series. During the Fall Classic, he went 8 for 19 with three doubles and two walks.
